Oakward Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 August 2026
Oakward is a family chore and reward app. A parent sets up a household, adds heroes for their children, and assigns quests. This policy explains exactly what data the app stores, where it goes, and how to delete it.
The short version. Oakward contains no advertising, no analytics, and no third party tracking of any kind. Nothing your family enters is sold, shared, or used to build a profile. Your data is stored in your own private area of our Firebase backend and is visible only to the devices you have enrolled in your family.
Who this policy is for
Oakward is designed to be set up and controlled by a parent or guardian. Accounts are created by adults. Information about children is entered by the parent, on the parent's judgement, and children use the app on devices the parent has explicitly enrolled.
What we collect
| Data | Why | Who provides it |
|---|---|---|
| Parent email address | To create and sign in to the account, and to reset a forgotten password | The parent |
| Account identifier and device records | To keep a family's data separate from every other family, and to know which devices belong to the household | Generated automatically |
| Hero names (usually a child's first name or nickname) and chosen character art | To display heroes in the app | The parent |
| Optional hero, reward, and family photographs | Purely decorative, to personalise heroes and rewards | The parent, from the device's camera or photo library |
| Quests, rewards, XP, Gold, Essence, streaks, vault balances, and their history | The core function of the app | Entered and earned in the app |
| A device push notification token | Only if notifications are enabled, so a parent can be told a quest is awaiting approval | Generated by the operating system |
We do not collect dates of birth, ages, precise or approximate location, contacts, browsing history, advertising identifiers, or any biometric data. Face ID, where enabled, is handled entirely by your device. Oakward only receives a yes or no result and never sees your face data.
What we do not do
- No advertising of any kind, and no advertising SDKs.
- No analytics, crash reporting, attribution, or behavioural tracking SDKs.
- No selling or sharing of personal information. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA and CPRA.
- No cross app or cross site tracking. Oakward does not request App Tracking Transparency permission because it does not track.
- No purchases. The Gold, Essence, and prizes in Oakward are earned in the app and have no monetary value. There are no in-app purchases and no real-money transactions.
Where your data lives
Oakward stores data in two places: locally on each enrolled device, and in Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions), which acts as our data processor. Google's handling of that data is governed by the Firebase Privacy and Security terms. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and is stored in a per family area that our security rules make readable only by devices you have enrolled in your family.
How long we keep it
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. Delete your account and it is removed as described below. Uninstalling the app on its own does not delete your data, because your family may still be using other devices.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account and all of its data from inside the app, without contacting us:
Parent Command → Family & Settings → Delete Account.
This permanently erases your parent account, every hero, all quests, rewards, currency and history, all uploaded photographs, and every enrolled device's access. It is immediate and cannot be undone. Individual items, such as a single hero or one category of data, can also be removed at any time from Clear & Reset Data on the same screen.
Children's privacy
Oakward is a household utility operated by a parent. Any information about a child in the app is entered by that parent, is used solely to make the app work for their family, is never used for advertising or profiling, and is never disclosed to anyone outside the family's own enrolled devices. A parent can review, change, or permanently delete everything about a child at any time using the controls described above. If you believe a child's information has been provided to us without a parent's involvement, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict its processing. The in-app controls above give you direct access and deletion. For anything else, contact us and we will respond within the period required by applicable law.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change affects how your family's data is handled, surface a notice in the app.
